01 / Overview
MedLogsRx turns a photo of a paper prescription or lab report into a structured record: patient, doctor, medicines, dosage, frequency, duration, vitals and warnings, plus a short summary.
It has grown into a health record for the whole family, with family profiles, dose reminders and caregiver alerts, medicine stock, vaccinations, a medical-history timeline, PDF export and offline access, on native iOS and Android.
02 / Problem
Paper prescriptions get lost, handwriting is hard to read, and records are scattered across family members and doctors. Caregivers have no reliable way to know whether a parent took a dose or is about to run out.
03 / Our Role
Built solo by our founder, Vishal Paliwal, end to end: product strategy, both native apps, the AI vision pipeline, the Supabase backend, subscriptions, the landing site and the store launches.

04 / Engineering Challenges / Solutions
Reading handwritten prescriptions
Several photos per prescription go to OpenAI vision through a server-side function, so the AI keys never ship inside the app.
Metering AI cost fairly
Scan quotas live on the server: every scan is checked before the AI call, failed scans are refunded, and a per-user lock stops two uploads racing for the last free scan.
Reminders that work offline
A local cache and a network monitor keep schedules, dose logs and records available offline, and reminders, snoozes and missed-dose caregiver alerts still fire.
